www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday June 18, 2008 - 33 OAK swimmers win multiple events at Eastern Canadians Oakville Aquatic Club swimmers Marni Oldershaw, Mack Darragh and Mika Spencer were all multiple-event winners at the recent Eastern Canadian Tri-Camp and Meet. Oldershaw won seven gold in 13-year-old girls' action, including the 100-metre and 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke, 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley. She was also part of triumphant 4x50m and 4x200m medley relay teams. Darragh, 14, claimed gold in 200m butterfly, 400m IM and 4x200m medley relay. He added three silvers and a bronze. Spencer, 13, joined Oldershaw on the two winning relay teams. She notched three silvers and had three fourth-place finishes. The meet featured the top age group swimmers in eastern Canada. and was preceded by a four-day training camp directed by some of the country's top senior and age group coaches. "Training with other national level swimmers was at a faster pace than the club workouts. That pushed me to work harder in the workouts," Darragh said. "The focus of the camp was mainly on technique. I will try to keep my strokes longer at my next meet."
