Playing with PGA Nationwide Tour professional Jonathan Fricke of Snellville, Georgia, Johnson shot the hole-in-one on the 189-yard 17th hole using a five iron. "What a great way to end my first day of the tournament," said a somewhat surprised Johnson. "It felt great coming off the club and the next thing I knew, it dropped into the hole." Johnson, who was playing under the sponsorship of Corona, receives a 2009 Ford Flex from Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited as a result of his wellplaced iron shot. "We're thrilled that we are able to help Mr. Johnson celebrate by driving home an all-new Ford Flex crossover ­ built in his own hometown of Oakville, Ontario," said Dean Stoneley, vice-president, general marketing, Ford of Canada. "Oakville Assembly Complex, our state-of-the art flexible manufacturing facility, also builds Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX." The Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic presented by Samsung was held in the Town of the Blue Mountains June 23-29. The Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic provides fans with the opportunity to watch 160 professionals and 160 celebrities and amateurs pair up in a pro-am style tournament. As an official Nationwide Tour stop, players are competing for one of the year's largest purses at $800,099, with all four rounds televised on the Golf Channel. Two courses host the tournament ­ The Georgian Bay Club and the Raven Golf Club at Lora bay ­ with proceeds from the tournament benefiting the Wayne Gretzky Foundation. Volvo enters the world touring car championship race at legendary brands hatch Volvo Car Corporation has decided to enter its new ethanol powered Volvo C30 racer in the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) at Brands Hatch on the 26 27th of July. The car, which is in its first year on track, races in the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) as the only ethanol E85 powered car in that series. In STCC, the car has so far secured three out of seven pole positions and has led close to half of all laps driven. Now Volvo wants to evaluate the car against the strongest of competition on the circuit at legendary Brands Hatch, Kent, England. Volvo official motorsport partner Polestar Racing AB, which is also both developing and running the same car in STCC, will operate the car. Volvo will race with Ethanol E85 in the tank and will not be eligible to race for points.
