www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday November 26, 2008 - 9 Police increase Trafalgar Road traffic enforcement Halton police are increasing their presence along Trafalgar Road as part of a project intended to reduce the number of vehicle collisions taking place there. Police noted that between January and midNovember, 14 per cent of all the vehicle collisions that took place in Oakville occurred on Trafalgar Road, thereby bringing it to the attention of police. The key causes of these accidents include, but are not limited to, failing to stop for red or amber lights, speeding, driving aggressively, following too closely, improper turns and driver inattention. Injuries taking place during these accidents have also been compounded by a lack of seat belt use. The project, which will continue until Sunday, Nov. 30 will see highly visible traffic enforcement on Trafalgar Road with particular attention paid to aggressive/inattentive drivers and seat belt offences. Police will be keeping a record of what tickets were issued where so that area problems can be studied and possible solutions found. The use of red light cameras is currently being re-evaluated by the Halton Region with a report scheduled for submission in early 2009.
