Police said shortly after 9 p.m. a man entered the store and confronted the female employee behind the counter, demanding money. No weapon was seen, however, the suspect made a gesture indicating he had one. When the employee opened the cash register, the suspect reached in and grabbed an undisclosed amount of money at which point the suspect fled the store. He was last seen running east. A male employee in the store was busy in the back and did not hear the commotion at the front of the store. The female employee was not injured during the robbery. A search of the area by a Halton police canine unit was unsuccessful in finding the suspect. The suspect is described as white, 18-19 years of age, 5-foot-8, with a medium build and brown eyes. He wore a light grey coat with a hint of yellow and fur around the hood. He was also wearing a brown-tweed sweater pulled over his face so only his eyes were exposed and light pants. This robbery comes less than one week after two men, also believed to be in their late teens, robbed a Gino's Pizza Store, located at 1289 Marlborough Court. Det.-Sgt. Kevin Maher of the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau is not ruling out the possibility of a connection. "At this point it's a little too early to say for sure they're connected, they did take place in different parts of town, but we're certainly looking at that," he said. The first suspect in the Gino's Pizza robbery is described as white, 18-19 years of age, 170 pounds, wearing a dark blue jacket with grey sleeves, dark jeans with his face partially covered by his shirt. The second suspect in that robbery is described as white, 18-19 years of age, 165 pounds, wearing a red sweater, dark pants, possibly a toque with his face partially covered by his shirt. Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate both of these incidents. Anyone with information related to them is asked to contact the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-8254777, ext. 2215 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 TIPS (8477).
