www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday December 19, 2008 - 15 Soccer stadium prepares to open The Town of Oakville and Oakville Soccer Club (OSC) officials will be congregating in the new Pine Glen Soccer Centre, next Tuesday, to celebrate the end of the facility's construction. As part of the festivities, the keys to the $10.9-million building will be handed over by the Town to the OSC during a ceremony that will take place at 11 a.m. The actual opening date for the facility is slated for February. Town Council approved the building of the soccer centre on May 5, with the understanding that the Town would contribute $1,075 million to the project while the OSC would make an up front payment of $300,000. The Town also loaned the OSC $9.5 million for the indoor soccer facility, which the Town expects will be paid back in no less than 20 years. This agreement also means the Town owns the land and the facility, located at Pine Glen Road and Third Line, while the OSC will control the day-to-day operations. The building is 100,000 square-feet in size and includes a fullsized regulation field with FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association)class artificial turf. The completion of the Pine Glen Soccer Centre brings an end to the concerns of the OSC who had been searching for another indoor soccer facility ever since the temporary facility they were using was sold to new owners who were not in the recreational sport business. The OSC's indoor soccer program serves around 2,000 children. MADNESS!!!
