www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday January 24, 2009 - 7 Police chase ends with arrests of car-thief suspects Three men are facing a number of theft related charges following a brief police chase through the streets of Oakville on Wednesday night. Police said the incident began at around 11 p.m. when plainclothes officers with the Halton Regional Police Service saw three men abandoning a GMC Sierra pickup truck in a parking lot near the AMC movie theatre in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and the QEW. Police soon determined the truck had been stolen from Brantford that same night and followed the suspects as they attempted to flee the area in a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck. Police later discovered the truck had also just been stolen from the AMC parking lot. Police followed the suspects for a short distance before losing them as they crossed into Mississauga. A short time later the suspects crossed back into Oakville where they were spotted by police. At this point, police attempted to stop the suspects' vehicle, activating their emergency lights and sirens. However, the suspects refused to stop and a short police chase ensued. This chase was brought to an end when the suspects lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a snow bank in the area of Winston Churchill Boulevard and Plymouth Drive. Police said all three suspects attempted to escape the scene on foot, but were apprehended by police metres from their vehicle. No one was injured during this incident although the Chevrolet Avalanche sustained severe damage during the crash. Gary Matthew Green, 19, of Oshweken, Kenneth Anderson Davis, 19, of Brantford, and a young person who can not be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act have each been charged with theft over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of break in instruments.
