16 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday February 11, 2009 www.oakvillebeaver.com New scholarship marks CFUW-Oakville's 60th anniversary The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW)-Oakville has announced a new $5,000 scholarship that will be awarded this year to celebrate CFUW-Oakville's 60th anniversary. Each year, the CFUW-Oakville presents awards to financially assist young women in their pursuit of post-secondary education. The new award has been established as "a tribute to student excellence in scholarship, leadership and citizenship." It will be awarded to a graduating female student, currently attending a publicly funded Oakville high school, who will be enrolling in a Canadian university for 2009-10. The recipient is asked to demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, exceptional leadership qualities and the ability to motivate others, and a commitment to the betterment of the school and community through positive action. Students at all Oakville public high schools can pick up more information and applications from their school guidance office or on the club's website at www.cfuwoakville.ca. High Tea for Valentine's Day at Munn's Celebrate Valentine's Day by attending a High Tea on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Munn's United Church. The event begins at 2 p.m. at the church located at the corner of Dundas Street and Sixth Line. Tickets cost $10 and can be obtained by calling the church office at 905-257-8434.
