www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday February 11, 2009 - 7 TDL Group fined $70,000 for health and safety violation The TDL Group Corp. was fined $70,000 on Feb. 2, 2009, for a health and safety violation under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. During an investigation into an injury on May 24, 2007 at the company's warehouse on Wyecroft Rd. in Oakville, a Ministry of Labour inspector found the company did not have a joint health and safety committee in place for its workers. The TDL Group Corp., which operates the Tim Hortons chain, pleaded guilty to failing to establish and maintain a joint health and safety committee at the workplace. The fine was imposed by Justice of the Peace Dennis Lee in the Ontario Court of Justice, Burlington. In addition to the fine, the court imposed a 25-per-cent victim fine surcharge on the total, as required by the Provincial Offences Act. I LOVE PADERNO SALE Suspect believed responsible for eight business break-ins A Mississauga man is facing numerous robbery related charges in connection with a series of break and enters in Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills. The mini crime spree stretched from Oct. 1, to Jan. 31, with the thief breaking into eight businesses in the Winston Park area of Oakville, the Highpoint area in Milton and the Brigden Gate area in Halton Hills. Once inside, the suspect would target the business' computers with an estimated $10,000 worth of computers stolen in total. Four Oakville businesses were targeted during this spree including Algonquin Power Systems Inc., B2B Credit Chex Inc., Becton Dickinson Canada Inc., and Craft Canada. An investigation by Detectives from the Milton and Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureaus into the thefts concluded on Thursday with the arrest of Nicholas Priorello, 41, of Mississauga. Priorello is charged with eight counts of break and enter, eight counts of failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of driving while disqualified. Priorello is currently being held in custody in Toronto on other matters. To date, none of the stolen property has been recovered. The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate this incident.
