North Halton Tournament Nov 2008 In February, the Appleby College Junior Boys' Basketball team captured gold at the 39th Loyola Ed Meagher Sports Tournament by defeating Montreal's John F. Kennedy high school 61-44. The boys played with great amounts of effort and it showed in their dominance by winning an average margin of 20 points during each game. Boys' Hockey Bur-Bear ChampionshipOn February 2, the Appleby College Varsity Boys' Hockey team completedits quest for gold by defeating Notre Dame Welland in the goldchampionship match at the Burlington Bur-Bear High School HockeyTournament. The team won all six games played. For a fourth consecutive year, the Appleby College co-ed swim team has claimed the Conference of Independent Schools' Athletic Associations' championship. Congratulations to all of the team members and coaches. The Appleby College Varsity Women's Hockey team capped off a memorable season with a spectacular 4-3 overtime win at Nichols School to claim the CISAA championship. This win added to the team's recent North American Prep Hockey Association (NAPHA) championship. On May 14th, 2008 the Glenburnie Concert Band travelled to Ottawa to compete at Musicfest Canada and won Gold! Congratulations! U14 Boys' Basketball 2008 P.S.A.A. Champions ­ Glenburnie's Stingers went 4-1 in the round robin portion of the Western Conference tournament where they advanced to the finals. They defeated Oakville Christian School 18-12 to advance to the championship where they ended victorious. U14 Girl's 3-Pitch 2008 P.S.A.A. Champions ­ Glenburnie's U14 Girls' 3-Pitch team started the day 0-1, but bounced back with four straight wins which qualified them for the play-offs. The team advanced to the finals and claimed the 2008 P.S.A.A. Championship for the fourth consecutive year.
