The 15-year-old Oakville Dolphins Swim Club member broke a decade-old Canadian national age group record at last weekend's Dr. Ralph Hicken Invitational swim meet in Etobicoke. Russell set the new standard in the 15-18-year-old girls' 100metre backstroke en route to winning one of her five gold medals at the competition. Meryn McCann, Olivia Sbaraglia, Lauren Dixon and Christina Tanninen also won gold at the meet for the Dolphins, who took home a total of 24 medals. Oakville's tightest game at the Blessed Sacrament competition came in the final, where the Venom edged Motion 71-67. Trevon McNeil paced Oakville with 23 points, while Jamar Parkinson-Roberts added 13. Earlier in the tournament, Oakville doubled up the host Blessed Sacrament Yellow Jackets 70-35, routed the Gloucester Cumberland Wolverines 83-44, pounded the North Toronto Huskies 65-41 and hammered the Durham Bulldogs 83-57. Regis Ivaniukas, Mike Malo, Kevin Jarrett, McNeil and Parkinson-Roberts all posted double-digit scoring efforts in the win over Blessed Sacrament. Other members of the team are Lazar Kojovic, Nolan Mackenzie, Robbie McPherson, Mitch Walker, Djustice Sears-Duru and Shaka Fonderson.
