Red Leafs rallying to help restock shelves at needy local food banks The Canadian Red Leafs women's soccer team heading to Australia for the Masters in October, will host a car rally and barbecue this Saturday, Aug. 22 to raise funds -- and is asking for food donations to assist Oakville food banks. The Kerr Street Market and Salvation Army are both short on food supplies, while Fareshare is grateful for all donations as it holds out for its fall food drive. Food donations are being sought in response to a story about the food banks in last week's Oakville Beaver. The rally's start time is 1 p.m. It will take place throughout Burlington and Hamilton. All are welcome, driver's need a valid licence, to navigate the course using clues and maps. There will be detour stops, prizes and $100 (determined by points, not time) for the winning car.
