35 · OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, August 21, 2009 RETIREMENT SALE Up to Starts tomorrow Saturday, August 22 60 Take another STORE WIDE Goodbyes are not necessarily always forever The whirlwind of events that has brought us to the decision of closing Irish Classics, after 20 years in downtown Oakville, started back in June when my Mom and partner, Florence Hutchinson was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She has undergone surgery and six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. During this time, God has guided and blessed us in many ways. Mom has come through the treatments very well and is having some well-deserved rest. More recently, was meeting the lovely couple that will be the tenants of the space we own at 88 Dunn Street. We are excited about the restaurant, `The Crepe Kitchen' that will be moving into our unit. We truly believe that our meeting was not by chance. We believe they will enjoy many years of success. Many customers have become our friends and we will miss your visits to the shop. We have been privileged to get to know you and your families. Mom and I have truly enjoyed our mother daughter working relationship. Neither of us could have asked for a better partner. We have been fortunate to have Valerie Dee as our part-time help. Valerie has worked with us for the past 16 years and has always been willing to help out. Thank you Valerie, we couldn't have done this without you. One of the most memorable and anticipated nights of the year is Midnight Madness. For the past 20 years we have had performances by the Goggin School of Irish Dance on stage outside the store. This event always drew crowds who enjoyed the sights of Irish dancers and the sound of Irish music. Thank you Barb and all the dancers who have performed on our stage. Thank you for giving up a Friday night in the middle of the Summer, to dance sometimes in the sweltering heat and yes even in the rain. Many of you have shared with us the compliments you receive and the years of enjoyment you have had from the many `Irish Classics' items purchased from us. We hope you will continue to enjoy them for many years to come. We would like to thank you all for the past 20 years, we have enjoyed every one of them. During this time there have been many changes in our lives. I have had three wonderful children and Mom has added 10 grandchildren what blessings. Our green shamrock door will close for the last time September 21. We are not sure what form Irish Classics may take in the future, maybe a website or a new location. We will keep you posted. But this we do know, we are looking forward to having our first Christmas season free of retail hours. We would like to invite you to the store for a farewell get together on Wednesday, September 16 at 7p.m. Join us for a cup of Irish tea and dessert.
