P e a t , 9 6 , died on August 23, 2009 at the Waterford Nursing Home in Oakville, ON. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Eileen (nee Adderley), and sister Jessie Parry of Thunder Bay. He is survived by his brother Jeff of Thunder Bay. He was the loving father of Ian, who resides in Cincinnati, Ohio; the loving grandfather of Andrew in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; and of David in Cincinnati. He was the loving great grandfather of Brendan, Colin, and Caroline in Cincinnati; and Aidan, Tristan, and Adeline in North Carolina. James worked for the Royal Bank of Canada for 44 years and was the first manager of the branch at Lakeshore and Trafalgar Roads. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Oakville Golf Cub since 1950. He was a tireless worker for the Hospital, the first Oakville Arena, the Board of Education and many other good causes. During WWII, Flying Officer Jim Peat saw active duty as a navigator on Wellington bombers. Funeral service will be held at St. Jude's Anglican Church, 160 William Street, Oakville, on Saturday, August 29th, 2009 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West (1 block east of Kerr Street) Oakville, 905-842-2252.
