OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, November 4, 2009 · 14 Something for everyone at Wholistic Fair By Angela Blackburn OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF It's a toolbox for finding balance in life -- catering to the mind, body and spirit of women. That's the goal of its organizer, local nutritionist Angela Borgeest, who will present the third annual Wholistic Women's Fair next week. The fundraising event -- that this year will support Halton Women's Centre and the International Schizophrenia Society -- is Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Holiday Inn on Argus Road. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature a wide array of services, products and information. It will offer a variety of holistic choices for the whole woman, hence its name, said Borgeest. However, she is also giving thought to a name change for the fair, as she said guys should not be excluded or give it a skip because of its name. $ There will be an opening talk on iridology by Borgeest herself, a lingerie fashion show, handwriting analysis and face reading as well as 5 Tibetan Yoga, Zumba and salsa dance demonstrations and silent auctions. The annual fair, that is becoming a local tradition, boasts demonstrations, lectures, silent auctions and even chocolate that's good for you. "Some things are the same, some things are new," said Borgeest, explaining that in her talk on iridology, she'll outline how the eye is a map to one's health and how she uses a simple magnifying glass and light to delve into that. "As a nutritionist, I use iridology as an aid," said Borgeest. Her own job of taking nutrition and translating it into everyday lifestyle to create improved health is similar to the philosophy behind the fair. The fair offers new ways to look at both oneself and one's environment, RIZIERO VERTOLLI / OAKVILLE BEAVER 39 o.a.c. as low as 95 9 LOCATIONS TO SERVE YOU BETTER $3900 Up to per month ST THE BIGGE WHOLE NEW TRADITION: Angela Borgeest, a local nutritionist who has, for the third year running, organized the Wholistic Women's Health Fair. The fair set to open Saturday is suitable for both women and men, says its organizer. said Borgeest, noting attendees will find information about everything from eco event planning and environmentally-friendly cleaning, to reiki and feel-good products like handmade jewelry and chocolate. She's hoping some of the information will help people translate it into improved lifestyles and health. Borgeest said she at first tailored the fair to women as she found women are open to trying new things. In Tax Credit & Instant Rebate DON'T MISS *Free central air TIME T! However, if upon a second or third try, something works, it is worth consideration. "This is really a sampler of what is out there," said Borgeest. Among the lineup is free spinal and gait analysis, life coaching information, a talk on electromagnetic field and more. For men, Borgeest challenges them to find something for themselves or use the fair to better understand significant women in their lives. Borgeest is a native of Hong Kong who turned her own attention inward upon turning 40 and moved from her long-established career as a ballet instructor to becoming a nutritionist. She works at Alliance Healthcare Professionals in Oakville, which is sponsoring the upcoming fair. Whole Foods has donated reusable goody bags for attendees. The health fair, which was staged for the first time in November 2007, was an extension of Borgeest's personal dream to share what a balanced lifestyle is all about.
