It offers a modern take on the traditional 19th century cuisine and entertainment of Christmases past. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with scotch tasting by the fireplace in the Loft Room followed by a gourmet meal of traditional nineteenth century cuisine akin to a time when eating local meant from your own backyard. The menu includes hearty soup, roast beef with gravy and horseradish, butter-roasted turkey with traditional stuffing, sweet wine Victorian syllabub and more. Plum pudding flambé will complete the dinner -- all served family style at fireside tables in the rustic Hearth Room. Guests will be entertained throughout the meal with a traditional Saturday night Ceilidh performed by The Runes, featuring Celtic harper/singer/songwriter Ruth Sutherland, multi-instrumentalist/blues harper/singer/songwriter Doug Feaver, and Celtic fiddler Stephen Fuller. The evening is a tribute to the Alexander family -- one of Halton's founding families who, from 1836 to 1961, farmed the site where the museum is now located.
