The War Show Arts Briefs Chamber concert The Oakville Chamber Orchestra opens its season on Nov. 28 and 29. In its first concert of the season, The Age of Emotion, the Oakville Chamber Orchestra presents works of Debussy, Vaughan Williams, Bizet and Mahler, and Manuel de Falla's famous El Amor Brujo. The turn of the 20th century was a time of voluptuous artistic production and all the music in this concert is full of passion and expression. Soloist is Erica Iris Huang, mezzo-soprano. The concert evening on Saturday, Nov. 28 begins with a silent auction at 6:30 p.m., followed by the 7:30 p.m. performance at Central Baptist Church, 340 Rebecca St. The Sunday, Nov. 29 performance begins at 3 p.m. at St. Simon's Anglican Church, 1450 Litchfield Rd. The March 6-7 weekend will feature the Oakville Chamber Orchestra's performance of Beethoven's Octet and Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence. The season will conclude on May 1-2, with works by Macmillan, Purcell and one of the most favorite classical pieces, Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Concert tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Tickets per concert are $25 (regular), $20 (senior) and $15 (student). Subscription tickets (3 concerts) are $60 (regular), $45 (seniors), and $35 (students). CCMP will be providing community tickets to local charities for those not otherwise able to attend the event, because everyone is important and needed to make the community all it can be. The concert will also support AIDS relief in Africa through Embrace AIDS. Those willing to provide community tickets can do so through a receiptable donation of $15 or more. The concert will feature many up and coming young singers in the Oakville area as well as seasoned singers and actors. They will be performing a dramatized version of the Advent Section of the Messiah, with a Sing-ALong Hallelujah Chorus.
