A silver lining to Lain's injury is that while he wasn't able to work out his upper body for a few months, he was able to focus on developing his leg strength and skating during the summer. "That was kind of a good thing that came out of it," he said. Lain's scholarship at Lake Superior State University is still intact as well. Lain initially planned to attend the school this season but Lake Superior agreed to let him wait a year. "They could have let me go," said Lain. "It shows they believe in me."
