Prom Night screening Black history is the topic of a film to be screened later this month. An Oakville synagogue and a Caribbean community have teamed up to present a film that deals with the segregation of whites and blacks for Black History Month. The film, Prom Night in Mississippi, will be shown at Silvercity Cinema in Oakville on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Following the film will be a discussion led by the film's director -- and Oakville resident -- Paul Saltzman. The film is about a real town in Mississippi that, until 2008, had separate proms for the black and the white students at its public high school. The documentary deals with the reaction of the community in the wake of a single, all-race prom. Prom Night is presented by the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton and Shaarei-Beth El Congregation of Halton, both located in Oakville. Tickets cost $5. The film will begin at 7 p.m. The theatre is located at the QEW and Burloak Dr. For more information, visit www.promnightinmississippi.com. www. com Depend on the largest High Efficiency NO INTEREST NO PAYMENT FOR 6 MONTHS OAC AIRE ONE MADNESS SALE Gas Furnace Dealer in the Golden Triangle.
