He will be affectionately remembered by his sister Irmgard (Ingrid) of Ottawa, his brother Herbert (Eva) of Germany, and by so many kin and friends who he treasured so. He was born in Bonn, Germany, proud of his German Heritage and proud to show one proof that he was a Canadian. "Matt" enjoyed an impressive career in Construction doing restoration on Historic Buildings for the N.C.C. in Ottawa; Clerk of Works for "Labyrinth" N.F.B. Expo '67; C l e r k o f Wo r k s f o r P l a z a C o t e d e s Neige in Montreal; and then 20 plus years with C.I.B.C. He was active in his Rate Payers Association; past treasurer in B.H.Y.C.; raced (sailing) for many years on "Freckles" at R . C . Y. C ; M a t t w a s a n a v i d r e a d e r, loved music and going to the Opera and was so very proud to be a Schlaraffe. Mary was an avid bowler, which is where she met her husband Bruce; they loved to golf and especially enjoyed their golf trips to South Carolina with Paul and Peggy Martin. A special thanks and appreciation to the staff at St. Peter's particularly the Aspen employees for their love and care for the past 6 years. She was loved and cared by all nurses, personal support workers, management, cleaning staff, other residents and their families. Norine (nee Barham) Passed away peacefully on Februar y 12, 2010 in Oakville, ON in her 94th year. Born in Tillsonburg, ON, Norine is predeceased by her husband Bill McLeod, her brothers Bob, Ross, Jack, Leslie, Bert and her sister Eleanor. She leaves behind her sister Mary, her children Donald (Lorraine), M a l c o l m / Te x ( C l a u d i a ) a n d M a r y (Glen) and grandchildren Kristie, Amanda, Rebecca, Donald, Kaley and Keegan as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Norine was a very kind, loving, religious person and was always concerned about the welfare of others. She was passionate about all things "Canadian" and had many interests and hobbies including gardening, bird watching, walking, reading, singing and cooking. She was famous for her toll house cookies and ginger pickle. Norine taught us to enjoy the simple things in life - a sunrise, a full moon, a particular flower, or Macint o s h a p p l e s . We w i l l c h e r i s h t h e s e things forever. The family is planning a celebration of Norine's life in the springtime. Notification of this celebration will follow at a later date.
