www.oakvillebeaver.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, March 17, 2010 · 10 Canvasser not Salvation Army collecting tents for Haiti affiliated with charity By Dominik Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Halton police are issuing a warning following reports of a fraudulent door-to-door canvasser in Oakville and Burlington. Police said in the past few weeks a woman has approached homes in each municipality requesting donations for the cancer support charity known as Wellspring. Officials at Wellspring have stated their organization does not conduct door-to-door canvassing and they do not know the identity of the canvasser. Residents are advised to call police if anyone comes to their door requesting donations for Wellspring. Wellspring offers vital supportive care programs for people, and their loved ones, living with cancer. These programs are offered free of charge so community donations are essential. Those who want to make donations to the charity can do so online at www.wellspring.ca. The organization can also be contacted by phone at 905-257-1988. really great and Oakville is such an amazing community when it comes to helping out," Morris said.
