www.oakvillebeaver.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Wednesday, April 7, 2010 · 30 Scallop expert signing her book Cabaret The Tony Award-winning musical Book by Joe Masteroff Music by John Kander Lyrics by Fred Ebb Theatre Sheridan Presents An Oakville resident who penned a book of scallop recipes from around the world has several book signing dates coming up right here in Oakville. Retired teacher Judy Eberspaecher will be at The Mermaid and the Oyster this Saturday (April 10) and at the Chapters location at Dorval Crossing on April 17. "I grew up with scallops," she said. "I grew up in Nova Scotia and I probably ate scallops before I ate chicken." Her book Totally Scallops: Not Just Another Cookbook features recipes, histories on the recipes and where they came from, and information about eating the seafood throughout the entire book. "It's more than a cookbook. Number one, there's never been a cookbook written on scallops alone and secondly, this is a cookbook come travel book, come information book. It has recipes from around all over the world and it has beauti- ful pictures of the recipes, but also pictures of where they came from." The book features recipes from places such as Mexico, India, France among the many other nations, as well as recipes from top chefs from places such as Singapore, the U.S., England and Canada. "They're very high in omega," she said of scallops. "They're low in cholesterol, low in calories, high in pro- tein. So they're very good for you and they're easy to prepare." Eberspaecher will be at the restaurant from 2 to 4 p.m. It is located at 351 Kerr St. The following week she will be at the Chapters location, 300 North Service Rd., beginning at 1 p.m. End time is yet unknown. The book was published last December. For more information, visit www.totallyscallops.com.
