Two Oakville robots go to FIRST in Georgia Two high school teams will represent Oakville and Halton's schools to the world later this month with their robotic inventions. The robotics teams from Oakville Trafalgar High School and Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School are going to the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) 2010 Championships in Atlanta, Georgia April 1517. There will be about 350 teams from around the world, including 13 registered teams from across Canada, that will compete at the FIRST championship. Holy Trinity's Tronic Titans team qualified for the world championship at the Waterloo Regional competition that took place at the end of March. The team received the Rookie All-Star Award, which qualifies it for the world-level competition. "We're very excited to go down to Atlanta, Georgia for the world championships in our first year," said school vice-principal Vince Aresta. The OT Red Devil Robotics team qualified on Easter weekend at the Greater Toronto Regional competition in Mississauga. It received the Engineering Inspiration Award to qualify for the world match. At both regional competitions, individual school robots were teamed in groups of three for a sportslike match. The winning robots moved on to the world level. In addition, several more teams were given individual accomplishment awards that qualified them for the world match. Last year, Oakville Trafalgar High School was the only Oakville team to make it to the world championship in Atlanta. 15 · Thursday, April 8, 2010 OAKVILLE BEAVER · www.oakvillebeaver.com Colliers Opens Fourth Office Serving the GTA Colliers International is proud to announce the opening of their new office in Burlington, Ontario expanding their commercial real estate service offering to clients throughout Burlington, Stoney Creek, Hamilton and the Niagara regions.
