Blades begin RBC Cup tomorrow The Oakville Blades will play their first game of the RBC Cup national junior A hockey championship tournament tomorrow (Saturday) in Dauphin, Manitoba. Oakville, the Central Canada champion, will clash with the West representative La Ronge Ice Wolves at 3 p.m. (all times eastern). The Blades will continue the tournament Sunday with another matinee contest, facing local resident Mike Baird and his East champion Brockville Braves at 3 p.m. After a day off, Oakville will conclude the preliminary round with a game Tuesday against the Pacific representative Vernon Vipers and a contest Wednesday against the tournament host Dauphin Kings. The top four of the five teams in the tournament advance to the playoff round, which begins next Saturday. The final is slated for 3 p.m. Sunday. The 80-member club improved on its fifth-place showing from a season ago. The Dolphins collected 20 gold, seven silver and four bronze medals at the meet, also setting 16 club records. Zixuan Li and Sinead Russell both won five individual gold, while Lauren Dixon and Colin Russell each won three individual gold. Other individual gold winners were Meryn McCann (two) and William Dixon. Brandon Roberts, Pannagiotis Papangelakis, George Papangelakis, William Dixon and Li teamed up to win two relay gold in the boys' 11/12 division. Also winning medals for the Dolphins were Stella Zhao, Maggie Burns, Courtney Gregorian, Peter Kruzyk, Olivia Sbaraglia and Kurt Schubert.
