Halton joins Oakville in Clean Air Commute Halton Region will join the municipalities of Oakville and Burlington and ask its employees to stop driving only themselves to work during Pollution Probe's Clean Air Commute event from June 14-18. "During this event, employees of Halton Region will be encouraged to use a clean air commuting option such as cycling, walking, public transit, and carpooling, when travelling to and from work, in an effort to reduce smog and greenhouse gas emissions," states a memo to the Region's planning and public works committee. While all Regional locations are encouraged to participate in this event, most Halton employees work at the municipal and police headquarters on Bronte Road, just north of the QEW. Following the competition, the grand prizes, including an adventure trip to Costa Rica, are awarded.
