Seven local qualifiers for OFSAA track Oakville won't have its usual heavy representation at this year's Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) track-and-field championships. Only seven local athletes were able to qualify for this weekend's OFSAA meet in London by managing top-four finishes in their events at last week's south regional championships in St. Catharines. St. Thomas Aquinas student Kelly Hennessy was the lone Oakville gold medalist at regionals, winning both the junior girls' 1,500-metre and 3,000m events. Her sister, Colleen, was second in both distances at the senior girls' level. Holy Trinity's Eric Labelle (senior boys' 3,000m) and T.A. Blakelock's Devon Bosada (junior girls' 400m) and Karley Donnelly (junior girls' 300m hurdles) were Oakville's other silver medalists at the regional meet. Trinity's Rachel Bronzovich (midget girls' 800m and 1,500m) and Blakelock's Colin Liberty (senior boys' triple jump) also qualified for OFSAA with fourth-place finishes in St. Catharines. Twelve Oakville residents and two local teams qualified for last year's OFSAA championships.
