Thanks Volunteers contribute At its annual general meeting recently, the Oakville Hospital Volunteer Association (OHVA) -- formerly the Auxiliary to the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) -- presented $300,000 to Halton Healthcare Services (HHS). It was the first instalment of the association's 10-year, $3 million pledge for the new Oakville hospital. "The OTMH volunteers are a dynamic group of individuals whose commitment and determination is continually demonstrated," said Don Newell, vice-chair of HHS' board. "The asssociation's ongoing support helps in providing a more nurturing and healing environment at our hospital," said HHS president and CEO John Oliver. "Their long history of giving and caring has made a tremendous difference in the quality of care our hospital can offer to ease and improve our patients' hospital experience." Also celebrated was the introduction of the association's new name and look. The group that was once known as the women's auxiliary, has a new logo and tagline -- Serve, Support, Grow. With a membership of more than 700 adult and youth volunteers, the association raises money and contributed more than 87,000 hours of services last year to the hospital.
