Brian Carr said police received dozens of calls from residents claiming to have felt the tremors, but said no damage or injuries had been reported as a result as of press deadlines. Carr did say the tremors were felt at Halton Regional Police Headquarters, located at 1151 Bronte Rd. "Quite frankly, the building shook back and forth," he said. "It was almost like in a windstorm where the building has a little bit of play to it and I looked outside and didn't see the wind and that was kind of unusual." Elizabeth Carmichael, who lives on Kerr Street, also said she felt the tremors and initially questioned whether what she was feeling had more to do with the cold she currently has than any kind of seismic event. This year will be her 15th appearance at a G8 summit. If anyone knows what to expect at these summits, it's Ella Kokotsis of Oakville. Kokotsis works with the G8 and G20 Research Group on a volunteer basis as director of external relations, which is situated at the Munk Centre for International Studies at the University of Toronto. The groups consist of scholars, professionals and students interested in the activities of the G8 and G20. She will be attending both summits this year, which will mark her first appearance at G20.
