Retired teacher turns to rocks to find his vision A former biology teacher has turned to geology in his retirement years. Photographer Arnold Zageris will have an exhibit of his work at Oakville's Abbozzo Gallery July 23 to Aug. 22. The retired teacher specializes in large format photography to capture geological formations and landscapes of Newfoundland and Labrador. He uses a 4 by 5 view camera. His colourful rock portraits are unaltered. In a press release, he says he is able to get his photographs by waiting for the right light and by finding the best angle to complete his vision. His work is an exploration of the contrast between the grandeur of nature's open spaces and the delicate form and texture of isolated rock formations. His work has been exhibited across Canada. Zageris will be at the gallery during an opening reception on Friday, July 23 from 7-10 p.m. The gallery is located at 179 Lakeshore Rd. E. Gallery hours are Mondays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and by appointment. For more information visit www.abbozzogallery.com. Is the farmhouse haunted? You decide The Spruce Lane Farmhouse has generated numerous unexplainable stories and now you can decide if it is haunted or not. Each Sunday this August people will be able to go on a "ghostwalk" of the farmhouse, located in Bronte Creek Provincial Park. The farmhouse has been the filming location of two episodes of YTV's Ghost Trackers. Paranormal experts were also brought into the house with their equipment to do testing. During the tour, guides will provide visitors with the results found by the experts and the Ghost Trackers as well as share their own anecdotes in the house and barns. The tours are not meant to be frightening but to educate visitors about the beliefs and unexplained happenings in the buildings. The program is suited for those seven-years-old and up. During the tour there will be 45 minutes of walking and standing. The buildings are not stroller or wheelchair friendly. No reservations are required. Tours are at 8 and 9 p.m. Entry is $16 per vehicle. Other activities are offered in the park, some with addictioanl fees. The park's day-use area is located north of the QEW on Burloak Drive.
