Members of the Cowboys' tyke, atom and peewee Ontario Minor Football League squads took the Rogers Centre field during halftime of last Wednesday's CFL clash between the Toronto Argonauts and Calgary Stampeders. All three clubs went through offensive line/defensive line scrimmages. Players from the Cowboys' spring flag program and senior tackle teams formed the welcoming tunnel onto the field for the younger Cowboys' tackle teams. Atom Cowboys quarterback Garrett Holmes was also interviewed on the Jumbotron about the Go Garrett Go program, a fundraising initative in support of the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Free the Children Haiti relief fund. Each touchdown Holmes scores or passes for this season results in pledges for the charities. The program has raised more than $18,000 this season, with as many as two more games to go. The atom Cowboys concluded their regular season last weekend at King's Christian Collegiate with a 34-6 loss to the Brampton Bulldogs. Halton finished third in the league standings and will have a bye week in the opening round of the playoffs. The tykes fell 18-6 to the Beaton TNT Express and will conclude their season this Sunday, once again facing Beaton. Kickoff is slated for 11:30 a.m. at King's Christian. The peewee Cowboys were dropped 24-8 by the Niagara Storm and will play the first-place Cambridge Lions this weekend in the opening round of the playoffs. In Ontario Varsity Football League play, the peewee Cowboys lost 36-19 to the Toronto Wildcats, the junior varsity squad fell 350 to the Georgetown Crimson Tide and the varsity Cowboys were NIKKI WESLEY / OAKVILLE BEAVER defeated 36-6 by the Pickering Dolphins.
