The award, which is named for former Oakville Chamber of Commerce Chair Nelson Cusitar, recognizes an individual for his or her outstanding contribution to the Oakville business community over an extended period of time. The dinner will take place at the Oakville Conference Centre, located at 2515 Wyecroft Rd. A networking reception and silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. with the gala dinner taking place at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $125 per person and $875 for a table of eight. Canada's former chief of defence Staff General Rick Hillier will be the keynote speaker at this event. The third annual Doors Open Oakville will take place again on the weekend of Sept. 2526, but is in search of locations to feature. Doors Open Ontario is a program of the Ontario Heritage Trust. It is supported by the Town of Oakville and volunteers. Building on the success of the past two years, Doors Open Oakville will continue to allow visitors free access to locations that are either not usually open to the public, or would normally charge an entrance fee. This year, the event will host a new arts and cultural component with several hubs around town featuring local dancers, musicians and artists. Many of the locations will have guided tours, special displays, exhibitions and kid-friendly activities. Organizers need volunteers to act as site guides and attendants.
