Adeel will address Canada's Role in the Global Water Crisis: Coping with Emerging International Threats. World leaders recently assembled in New York City vowing to accelerate progress on the eight Millennium Development Goals that the UN established 10 years ago to address such issues as extreme poverty and hunger, lack of primary education, child mortality and maternal health in Africa, Asia and Latin America/Caribbean. Adeel is intimately involved with world efforts to deal with the many issues related to fresh water, and particularly Millennium Development Goal #7 Ensure Environmental Sustainability, which includes drinking water and sanitation issues. This is an opportunity to learn how Canada is working with the international community to deal with the global water crisis. More information on UNU-INWEH can be found at http://www.inweh.unu.edu/. The event will take place at the Oakville Conference Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Rd. (QEW & Bronte Road). Registration and cash bar begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. Admission costs $30/members, $40/non- members and $15/students. Twelve-month memberships are available at $30/single, $55/family and $75/corporate. The first not-for-profit, non-political, non-denominational Canadian Club was formed in Hamilton in 1893. The Canadian Club of Halton Peel, with 180 members, is celebrating its 25th season, having present- ed notable guest speakers covering a wide range of topics since 1986.
