On Saturday, Nov. 6, the Halton Catholic District School Board's Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (CPIC) will host its annu- al Catholic Parent Conference at Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School, 5150 Upper Middle Rd., Burlington from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. This year's conference theme is Engaging Families for Student Success. "We are offering a number of workshops with themes that include curriculum, Catholicity, healthy liv- ing and safety. Parents of our board are encouraged to attend and meet other parents in our Halton Catholic learning community," said Lisa Koster, chair of CPIC and co-chair of the Catholic Parent Conference Committee 2010. The keynote address on the theme Raising Pure Kids will be delivered by Chris Stefanick, an international speaker and author. Twenty workshops are scheduled with topics that include: raising faith-filled children; Internet and school safety; curriculum and spe- cial education-related topics; and physical and mental health. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. "The Catholic Parent Conference is an excellent opportunity for our parents to come together to dialogue and share ideas and strategies to become more actively involved in their children's education," said Lorrie Naar, a Halton Catholic District School Board superintend- ent of education.
