To date, Apa has helped raise $77,016 for the local humane society. The challenge was founded in memory of Apas Shih Tzu Patch who died in 2002. In September 2002, the Oakville Toyota and Lexus of Oakville dealerships raised $13,300 in Patchs name and donated the money to the local humane society, which in turn developed the challenge. Its an education program promoting the importance of the human/animal bond, featuring the dog that represented the ideal role model Patch.
