The meeting will take place at Glen Abbey United Church, located at 1469 Nottinghill Gate. The four candidates, Rob Burton, Ann Mulvale, Raymond Ray and John McLaughlin, will answer the publics ques- tions. They will speak about current issues facing the town, such as hospital funding, the air quality bylaw, taxation, economic develop- ment and tourism. People who have questions for the candi- dates can forward them to the chamber for consideration. The meeting will likely run until 9:30 p.m. Mayoral candidates meeting Oct. 5 Canadas former Chief of Defence Staff, General Rick Hillier, will deliver a keynote address at the Oakville Chamber of Commerces 56th Annual Chairs Dinner. The event takes place at the Oakville Conference Centre, 2515 Wyecroft Rd., on Wednesday, Sept. 22. We are honoured to host General Hillier, said chamber chair Sonny Jelinek, in a press release. Our members, their guests and oth- ers from the Oakville business community are very interested to hear General Hilliers per- spective on leadership and Canadas global presence. Hillier is currently a senior advisor with the TD Bank Financial Group. It has been a remarkable year for the Oakville Chamber, said its president John Sawyer, in the release. Under the leadership of Sonny Jelinek, the Chambers membership levels, revenue and event attendance have increased. In addition, Sonny has been instru- mental in developing the Chambers social media program. The Chairs Dinner and General Hilliers visit will be a fitting tribute to Sonny for the outstanding leadership he has provided to the Chamber. The gala event will be the inauguration of the Chambers incoming chair Mark Brown. Also, Len Sanci will receive the Nelson Cusitar Award for his contribution to the Oakville business community. The festival starts with a pancake breakfast in the Towne Square at 9 a.m. followed by free wagon rides, a corn roast and live entertain- ment for a day of family fun. Visit the taste pavilion for beverages and sumptuous fall fare featuring some of Downtown Oakvilles famous local restaurants. Taste of Downtown runs from Sept. 17-30. Diners can enjoy lunch or dinner prix fix menus at 15 participating downtown Oakville restaurants. Diners also have a chance to win prizes by having their Taste of Downtown Passport stamped by any three of the participating restaurants.
