Six Hamilton youths have been arrested in connection with an early Thursday morning crime spree, which spanned Burlington, Oakville and Hamilton. The spree began between midnight and 3 a.m. when the six youths entered a home on Burlingtons Verdi Street through an unlocked door. Police said while the owner of the home slept, the youths stole personal belongings and the keys to the victims 2006 Nissan Altima. These keys were then used to steal the Altima that was parked in the driveway. The six suspects drove to Oakville in the stolen Altima and in another vehicle, which had been reported stolen from the Hamilton area on Friday, Sept. 17. Once in Oakville, police said, the suspects began entering unlocked cars on Valhalla Court and stealing anything of value inside. They were interrupted by the Halton police, who were responding to a call from a witness in the neighbourhood. The six suspects fled when they spotted police, however, all but one were caught. Police said around 4 a.m. the last suspect entered an unlocked home on Waterford Street where he stole personal items along with the keys to a 2007 Ford Fusion while the owner slept. The suspect stole the vehicle and drove it back to Hamilton. Police said they learned this suspects identity later in the day and arrested him at his home in Hamilton. The six youths who ranged in age from 15 to 16 have been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and break and enter. Several of the youths have also been charged with breaching probation and breaching recognizance. All vehicles were recovered.
