Folks attending this Sundays Oakville and Milton Humane Societys Critters Gone Country Walkathon and Fall Fair will have the opportunity to visit the shelter and perhaps adopt a new best friend. Critters Gone Country is this Sunday noon-4 p.m. at Cornwall Road Park. Shelter hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Critters Gone Country is the major fundraiser for the Oakville & Milton Humane Society and includes a pledged 5km walk for the animals or a 1/2km stroll for the animals. There will also be animal-themed entertainment, a silent auction, Kids Zone, crafts and food. New this year is a Guinness World Record breaking attempt for the most dogs receiving a training les- son, designed to bring more dog owners to the park. The event is right next door to the OMHS shelter, offering visitors to the fundraiser the unique opportuni- ty to see exactly how their support will impact the homeless, abused and neglected animals of our com- munity. Often the shelter is unavailable during Critters Gone Country as feline viruses are more prevalent in the autumn months. In past years the OMHS has had to close much of the shelter to prevent the spread of disease. This year, the shelter is running and the staff are looking forward to sharing what they do with the folks who come to the event. Critters Gone Country Sunday
