As a fifteen year-old, he is involved in a firefight with US forces. He may or may not have tossed the grenade that killed a US serv- iceman. He, in turn, is shot twice in the back (huge gaping wounds), is punctured in dozens of places by shrapnel, and loses his sight in one eye. When it is clear that he will live, the years of torture begin (to claim that what he was sub- jected to was not torture is simply intellectual dishonesty). Ultimately, Khadr is charged with murder for killing an American soldier in battle. This (for lovers of irony) by US armed forces which, even as you read this, are using drones guided from Nevada to drop bombs on Pakistan an ally and friendly nation. They have killed hundreds of inno- cent Pakistani civilians. In all those years of Khadr's gross abuse, the previous Liberal government and the present Conservative government have behaved shamefully. Instead of trying to protect Khadr's most basic rights as a Canadian and as an adolescent and human being, they sent CSIS agents down to Guantanamo to interrogate Khadr and pass the info on to the Americans. We Canadians make great flunkeys. Nease, this cartoon is unworthy of you. GEORGE PATRICK ,OAKVILLE Khadr didnt stand a chance Continued from page 6 Why is the Town bothering to undertake an investigation into the donation to the Ontario Liberal Party by Oakville Hydro? An article in Saturday's Toronto Star quoted Mayor Rob Burton as saying that he had per- sonally authorized and made the donation. I am not very happy to learn that Mayor Burton has given my tax money to the Liberal Party. How do you impeach a mayor? MARGARET MERCER, OAKVILLE Can mayor be impeached? Speak up!
