From Nov. 20-27, the YMCA of Oakville, together with YMCAs across Canada, will offer activities that help children, youths and adults explore peace from a personal, community, and international perspective. In todays globalized world, we are connect- ed to each other more than we may realize. YMCA Peace Week helps remind us that we can each play a part in making our communities healthier and more peaceful. said Darryl McKenzie, president and CEO at the YMCA of Oakville. Although peace building is part of the local YMCAs year round programs, YMCA Peace Week highlights exploration of the many dimensions of peace. A special highlight of the week is the cele- bration of two local peacemakers Simon Harmgardt and Michele Braida as the YMCA of Oakville presents them with YMCA Peace Medals at the Community Breakfast for Peace on Nov. 24.
