Husband and soul mate to wife Joan, proud father to Davin and Rylan, son to Agnes, brother to Dawn Marese, nephew to Sigrund, Mabel, Helen and Lois, friend to all his cousins, uncle & great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Darrel l loved adventure in travel , golf and power walking. His 67 stature was often seen with the WOW power walkers training throughout the streets of Oakville for his many races and marathons. After eight years at Canadian Satellite Communications Inc. (Cancom), Darrell took on the role of vice president of sales and marketing for Family Channel in 1993. In 2001 he was named vice president of affiliate sales at Astral Media, before launching a consulting business in early 2007, which included Super Channel amongst his clients. To quote Darrells colleague and friend of 25 years, if you knew Darrell, you loved him. He had the innate ability to be friends with everyone. Though he was taken away from the world much too early, his caring nature, welcoming character and contagious personality live on in the people hes touched. Despite being challenged with bladder cancer our family was privileged to have met many lovely people from Credit Valley and Trillium Hospitals who cared for Darrell as if he were their own. This year, Team Darrell for The Terry Fox Run was formed one week prior to the race. It brought out over 80 friends and family and raised over $10,000 showing just the kind of man he was. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, Dec. 9th at 707 Galaxy Banquet Facility, 475 North Service Rd E., Oakville from 3-6pm, with a tribute to Darrell at 5 pm. Darrell requested that donations be made to Team Darrell for Terry Fox. You are my every thought and mostly my every word. I miss you more than any words exist in the English language. You were and will always be my rock, my strength, my confidant, my best friend, my Father. When I think of you I think of all the wisdom you possessed, a fi ghter never a quitter, kind, generous, loving and oh so very unselfi sh of a man. That is what you accomplished during your time here on earth. It amazes me, honours me, and humbles me that I get to call you my Father. I Love you Always and Forever your daughter,Rosemarie You are larger than life...until we meet again Dad....I love you. Nicholas (Nick) Berrisford On November 23, 2009, you left us suddenly.
