Oakville's Rebecca Forbes served up six consec- utive points to close out the final as Lakeside defeated Eclipse 26-24 in the championship game of the WHAT, finishing the tournament without losing a single set. Katie Venturi, Leah Lowe-Davies, Megan Williams, Maddie MacDonald, Katie Myers, Mel Bleeker and Taryn Du Tois also suit up for Lakeside, a first-year regional squad that trains at King's Christian Collegiate and Appleby College. Bear Davies and Gord Rodwin coach the team. Lakeside's U14 girls, meanwhile, captured silver at their inaugural tournament last month. The team won its pool, the quarter-final and the semifi- nal before falling to the Markham Stingers in the championship game. The Oakville Vytis 1 under-13 bantam boys recently opened their season by winning the CIA Bounce Basketball AA Tournament in Brampton. Oakville dominated the com- petition, winning all its games by an average margin of 34 points. The Vytis doubled up the Markham Motion 62-31 in the final. Earlier in the tournament, the Vytis defeated the Motion 70-29, the Oakville Venom 72-41 and the East Toronto Heat 73-41. Members of the Vytis are Matthew Mannocchio, David Cruz, Tristan Manaquil, Chris Hankins, Akaash Viswanathan, Jaiman Dhindsa, Mijay Magsanoc, Joaquin Da Silva, Noah Bimbo, Chris Tani and Cullen Welsford. Dan Manocchio, James Tani and Peter Da Silva coach the team, which is managed by Mitu Dhindsa.
