ON SCENE: An unidentified woman is consoled at the scene of Friday's fire on Ravine Gate. MICHAEL IVANIN / OAKVILLE BEAVER MICHAEL WILLEMS / SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER Fire guts home Friday By Domink Kurek OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Seven fire trucks rushed to a blaze at a Ravine Gate home Friday afternoon after flames engulfed the upper floor of the two-storey house. The Oakville Fire Department responded to the fire at 2321 Ravine Gate around 3:30 p.m. Firefighters had the fire extinguished within an hour. Firefighters also worked to contain the flames, to prevent them from spreading to neighbouring homes in the northwest Oakville subdivision, said Oakville Deputy Fire Chief Andy Glynn. A home adjacent to the house on fire, did receive some exterior fire damage. The cause of the fire that drew neighbours onto the street was unknown at the time of the fire, but when fire crews arrived at the scene, the home was heavily engulfed in flames, mainly on the upper floor at the back of the house. The occupants of the home were treated by EMS personnel and released on scene. Damage was estimated to be more than $500,000. The cause of the fire is still under inves- tigation. Hate your kitchen?
