The North Oakville Men's Touch Football Association (NOMTFA) will welcome three new inductees into the NOMTFA Hall of Fame this weekend. Oakville residents Ken Cormier and Jim Holman, along with Uxbridge's Brian Worts, will be honoured before and after this Saturday's second annual Hall of Fame Game. The Hall of Fame Game between two current NOMTFA teams will kick off at 10:30 a.m. on the north field at Crusaders Rugby Club, located at 2214 Ninth Line. Following the contest, past and current players, fam- ily members and other invited guests will move inside the Crusaders clubhouse for induction ceremonies and a barbecue. This is the second year the NOMTFA has inducted people into its hall of fame. Co-founders Peter Morris and Mike Smith joined former head referee Bob Betts as inaugural inductees last year. Cormier worked as a referee for 13 seasons in the NOMTFA. Holman was a player, referee and league executive member for approximately 15 seasons, while Worts played 13 years and also served the league as president, social chairman and draft chairman. Through a special arrangement with the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the Grey Cup will be on hand at the event. Attendees can have their pictures taken with the venerable trophy, which will be awarded for the 99th time later this year to the champions of the Canadian Football League. The principles and format established by Cormier, Holman, Worts and many of their early colleagues live on today in NOMTFA, which operates a summer/fall season of seven-on-seven football at Crusaders Park and an indoor winter season (six-on-six) at the Oakville Soccer Club's Pine Glen facility. The not-for-profit league is based in Oakville but draws players from throughout Halton and the sur- rounding area. The minimum player age of 30 has been relaxed on occasion to ensure complete rosters for each team. Games in the summer/fall season are played each Saturday at 9 and 10:30 a.m. at Crusader Park.
