Oakville, the suburb of the (less and less) comfortable middle class, should be especially afraid of this process, since the main target of its greed is the middle class. The growing ranks of the poor are fed by the diminishing ranks of those in the middle. The tax cuts will not restore the middle class, because without well paid jobs there is no income to cut tax from. By definition, the assault on public f services will not help bring the poor out o their misery. To solve this problem we need the policies that reign in unbridled capitalism and promote social solidarity. Green Party policies create the most thoughtful platform for the delivery of a caring society, as they not only call for social justice, but also take into consider- ation the fact that the resources are not endless, and therefore we must learn to share them. As for the Britishwhen desperate masses burnt London this summer, they f gave us a disturbingly honest glimpse o the future. 14,000 in the next four years and repair existing, sub-standard housing. We will implement housing benefit for low-income tenants who pay unaf- fordable rents. This benefit will go to nearly 200,000 Ontarians. I am a strong proponent of mixed- income housing. Andrea Horwath and Ontarios NDP will develop an Ontario Housing plan that includes inclusion- ary zoning, landlord licencing and bet- ter tenants rights. The NDP will increase the mini- mum wage to $11/hour this year and tie Lesley Sprague - NDP Kevin Flynn - Liberal Health, I recently got all parties to agree to act on a childrens mental health strategy. The Liberal government committed $257 million over three years towards this strat- egy that will help more than 50,000 fami- lies. Both the NDP and PCs only pay lip service to these issues and actually voted against increased funding for kids. Liberals have increased funding since 2003 by 80 per cent for community men- tal health services and increased funding for addiction services by 49 per cent. Our most important step to help low- income families has been to reduce their taxes. Since 2003, a single mom with two children, working full time at minimum wage, has seen her familys income increase by $12,500, or 60 per cent. Once again the NDP and PCs voted against tax cuts to help kids. Weve raised social assistance rates, and added 22,000 new affordable childcare spaces. We will raise the Ontario Child Benefit to $1,310 per child. A $2.5 billion investment in housing has helped 680,000 low-income families. And we are the only party with a Poverty Reduction Strategy the first in Ontarios history. This strategy sets to reduce child poverty by 25 percent over five years moving 103,000 children out of poverty by 2013. Continued from page 13 and incompetence that has taken bil- lions of dollars out of our provincial budgets. Imagine how many programs could be funded if McGuinty hadnt wasted $1 billion on eHealth or $7 billion on Samsung. A PC government is committed to investing to help all of us, including those with mental health issues. We will eliminate the wasteful regional health bureaucracies (LHINs) and put that money directly into front-line health- care. We will also help those who have to Larry Scott - PC Continued from page 13 Continued from page 13 Continued from page 13 Andrew Chlobowski Green See Lesley Sprague page 20 See Larry Scott page 20 NE095G411 2011.
