Sweet Shakespearian thunder Celtic fiddler hits The Centre with Studio I Jazz Orchestra It promises to be a thunderous performance with Oakville's Studio I Jazz Orchestra on Sunday, Oct. 30. That's because the orchestra will be performing the composition of Such Sweet Thunder r by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, which had been commissioned for the Stratford Shakespearian Festival. Studio I says that since the 1957 performance by Ellington and his orchestra in Stratford, the piece has not been performed in its entirety in Canada. The music features 12 movements portraying Shakespearian events and characters and the title words are lines taken from A Midsummer Night's Dream: "I never heard so musical a discord, such sweet thunder." The concert will take place at 3449 Lakeshore Rd. W. Tickets cost $85 and include a light meal after the show. Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund. Canadian Celtic musician Ashley MacIsaac is coming to The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts with music from his latest album that features full band. He will perform at The Centre on Saturday, Oct. 29.
