All three local players vying for a spot on the team, Phil Hampton and Braedan Russell of the Oakville Blades along with Patrick Megannety of the Georgetown Raiders, were among the 22 players selected for the team. Thirty-four players tried out for the team during a three-day camp at Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. It is the second year in a row on the team for Hampton, who helped Canada East claim the silver medal last year. He is one of three returnees on the team. The second-year Blades blueliner has two goals and four assists in 13 games this season. Russell, 18, leads the Blades with nine goals and is third in team scoring with 18 points in 11 games. Russell had 14 goals and 37 points in his rookie season last year. Russell made an impression on the Canada East coaching staff f with two goals and an assist to help his team win 4-2 in the second of two intra-squad games at the selection camp Megannety is averaging more than a point per game with Georgetown this year, notching eight goals and 15 points in 14 contests. He had 36 points in 50 games last year. Megannety scored three times in the first intra-squad game at the tryouts, a 5-3 victory for his Team White. The tournament begins Nov. 7 in Langley, B.C. The final will be shown on TSN on Sunday, Nov. 13.
