Broken limb blacks out east end Southeast and downtown Oakville were plunged into darkness Monday night, after a large tree branch crashed down on a Maple Grove Drive power line. Oakville Hydro Vice President Mike Brown said the tree branch fell on a `primary feeder' at around 4 p.m., impacting a huge area bounded by Cornwall Road to the north, Winston Churchill Boulevard to the east, Lakeshore Road to the south and Kerr Street to the west. "I'm going to suggest around 4,000 customers were affected by this disruption," said Brown. "It went out just after 4 p.m. We had partial service restarted just after 5 p.m. with full service restored at 5:27 p.m." Brown said Oakville Hydro dispatched two crews to deal with the outage. One crew repaired the damaged power line on Maple Grove Drive. A second crew attempted to redirect power to the affected homes in the interim.
