www.insideHALTON.com · OAKVILLE BEAVER Thursday, November 17, 2011 · 12 Souvenirs, pool permits, rec fees and rentals -- will cost more Continued from page 1 Under General Fees and Charges, bylaw and licensing rates will go up two per cent, the cost of providing a tax statement will rise from $10 to $15 and the cost of a property title search will jump from $200 to $250. Town souvenir prices will go up 15 per cent. Oakville Fire Department fees for inspection, permits for fireworks and open-air burning will jump from 1.3 to 3.3 per cent -- because of an increased cost to provide the service. Parks and Open Space general fees for items like tree permits, bleacher rentals and field lining are going up five per cent to also bring them in line with the cost of providing the service. A phased-in fee hike, already approved by council Oct. 3, for pools and outdoor playing fields, will take effect in 2012. The increase will see adult field rentals raised five per cent a year from the current level of $21.68 to $26.61 in 2015. Youth field rental rates will jump from $8.28 to $10.06 by 2015. Pool rental rates for adults will change from $128.76 to $156.51 by 2015 while pool rental rates for youths will go up from $65.23 to $79.39 by 2015. Cemetery fees, too, will increase by three per cent for most products and services, while mooring fees at the harbours will jump 5.7 per cent in accordance with the Harbours Business Plan, approved by council earlier this year. Charges for launch/haul out and storage are increasing about three per cent -- in line with current inflation. Most Recreation and Culture-related fees (i.e. arenas, seniors services, museums) will be bumped by five per cent. No increase is proposed for drop-in programs such as swimming and skating as existing fees are already higher than in neighbouring communities. No hike is planned for fitness membership fees as the program wouldn't remain marketable. Development engineering costs will go up five to 26 per cent with pool permit fees increasing by 60 per cent. These numbers may change as a mapping exercise is underway. No hikes are planned for library services.
