Problem Statement Identify a preferred alignment and construction method for the proposed watermain for the proposed Zone 1 watermain that will facilitate water conveyance from the Burloak Water Purification Plant to the Kitchen Reservoir and, thereby, y provide additional water capacity for approved growth areas and security of water supply to North Oakville and Milton. The Process As a part of the study, y Public Information Centres (PICs) have been held to present the alternative routes that were being evaluated for the proposed watermain (PIC No. 1 - March 26, 2009) and preliminary preferred route (Bronte Road alignment), associated impacts and proposed mitigation measures (PIC No. 2 - June 18, 2009). The first PIC outlined the background information, proposed a decision-making approach, presented a list of alternative routes and construction methods, as well as the evaluation criteria. The second PIC recommended a preliminary preferred route for the watermain and construction method. w a revised preferred watermain Upon further evaluation, public comment and agency review, route (Burloak Drive alignment) has been recommended as shown in the above map. This alternative was presented as part of the Sustainable Halton Water and Wastewater Master Plan PIC No 2 held in Oakville (Feb. 16, 2011) and Burlington (Feb. 17, 2011). The preferred method for construction of the watermain involves tunneling underneath portions of Burloak Drive and the Bronte Creek valley in order to avoid disruption of the valley. Based on input received at these PICs as well as input from review agencies and other key stakeholders, Halton Region and its consultant have prepared the Environmental Study Report (ESR) for this Schedule C project. Public Comment Invited By this Notice, the ESR is being placed on the public record for 30 calendar days in accordance with the requirement of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process.
