Ontario now has lower corporate taxes than any U.S. state. The creation of the HST has allowed Ontario businesses to compete on a level playing field against others from 140 countries, he said. Tax rates have been reduced by nearly half for new businesses. The Premier added that personal taxes have also been lowered for 93 per cent of Ontarians from four years ago. McGuinty also plans to rebuild eight per cent of the existing power grid over the next 20 years -- he also noted the Liberal government has built 5,000 kilometres of transmission and 8,000 megawatts of generation. "A reliable source of electricity is the lifeblood of a growing economy," he said. McGuinty admitted there has been some controversy around the Province's clean energy plan, but it has created 20,000 jobs in Ontario so far. "Our government stands for clean energy, clean energy jobs and clean air," he said. McGuinty said the current government spends more on infrastructure than any previous government. Infrastructure work is ongoing as the Province is working on new roads, bridges, sewers, public transit schools and hospitals. "Here in Oakville, we are proud to support projects that are important to this community. Projects like that magnificent, new Oakville hospital that we are building," he said. The Premier said he is proud of Ontario's "Our government stands for clean energy, clean energy jobs and clean air."
