BALFOUR, Violet (Dot) Dorthea Gladys After a full life, Dot passed away peacefully at the Burloak Long Term Care Centre, February 20, 2012 in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Alexander Archer Balfour (1914-1997). Loving mother of Moira-Jane (Robert) Plexman (Oakville) and Frazer Balfour (Burlington). Dear Nana to SarahJane (Coben) Christiansen (Toronto), William Plexman (Ottawa), Jake Balfour (Burlington) and Jordon (Kingston). She is also survived by her brothers-in-law William Balfour (Peterborough) and David Balfour (Mississauga). Born in Tullyhogue, County Tyrone, Ireland to the late T h o m a s a n d M a r y H e n r y. Predeceased by her 3 brothers and 7 sisters in Canada, Ireland and the US. Dot enjoyed singing in church c h o i r s i n I r e l a n d , To r o n t o , Temagami, and South Porcupine and with Sweet Adeline's in Oakville. She excelled in needlework and produced many fine works of knitting, crocheting and rug hooking. Her Christmas cookies were the envy of the neighbourhood. She was a longtime member of St. Aidan's Anglican Church, Oakville and a life member of the OTMH auxiliary. Friends were received at Oakview Funeral Home, 56 Lakeshore Road West on Wednesday February 22, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funeral Service was held in the Oakview Chapel on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Interment followed at St. Jude's Cemetery, Oakville.
